OUR MISSION

To provide a broad range of bilingual, social and recreational services, year-round, to people living with intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorders.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Garagona our campers openly express themselves, learn about and participate in new experiences and most importantly, joyfully take advantage or their stay !

OUR PROGRAMS

Programming is organized around a theme for the session. Our counsellors organize creative and physical activities and include  camper suggestions. The possibilities are many: cooking, art, theater, nature walks, game, sledding and outing. Providing enriching and entertaining experiences for our campers is easy in the beautiful natural setting that is Frelighsburg.

GENERAL DETAILS OF OUR SERVICES

Membership Info:

  • Consult our downloadable calendar on our website
  • Communicate with Erica, responsible for registration or for more information
  • Transport from the Dix30 in Brossard offered with an added fee

Eligibility Criteria:

  • 6 or over.
  • ID and/or ASD.
  • Our site is built on a hillside and is not wheelchair friendly.
  • Wants to have a great time in a magical place.

Other Details:

Non admissibility criteria

In order that campers may fully enjoy their stay at Camp Garagona, we’ve put in place criterias that
ensure life at camp is enjoyable for all. Below are some reasons for non admissibility.

  • Lacking the aptitudes needed for camp life,

  • having a state of health making hospital care necessary,

  • having behavioural problems that may negatively affect others,

  • having violet behavioural problems toward the staff and/or other campers,

  • unacceptable behavioural issues of a sexual nature,

  • having been in contact with lice &/or bed bugs on the day of departure for camp.

About the organization

A group of citizens dedicated to our cause created Camp Garagona in 1969 in Frelighsburg, in the Eastern Townships. Primarily a residential camp during the summer months and a respite centre providing support to their caregivers the rest of the year, Garagona welcomes people  living with intellectual deficiencies and/or autism spectrum disorders. Our client pool comes from across Quebec and special attention is given to people from the Brome-Missisquoi area.
